Blackstone Valley Spinners Clinch First-Ever Regular Season Title, Eye Deep Playoff Run

For the first time in team history, the Blackstone Valley Spinners are officially the regular season champions.

With just two games remaining—a home-and-home series against the second-place Lunenburg Phillies—the Spinners have secured the league’s top seed and capped off a dominant stretch that leaves no doubt about their status as the team to beat entering the playoffs. Winners of 12 of their last 13 games over the past five weeks, the Spinners have surged past the competition with a lethal combination of timely offense, clean defense, and elite pitching.

The Spinners’ pitching staff has been nothing short of dominant. Seven different arms, including three starting pitchers, currently boast ERAs under 1.70. As a group, the staff has racked up 182 strikeouts in just 146 innings pitched, while holding opposing hitters to a mere .221 batting average and in addition holding a strong 2.35 ERA. Opponents have managed just 123 hits and 62 walks across 22 games, scoring a total of 59 runs—only 49 of which are earned. That kind of consistency on the mound has been the foundation of the team’s success and a nightmare for anyone stepping into the batter’s box.

Offensively, the Spinners have been equally impressive. The team boasts a slash line of .305 / .441 / .422 (AVG / OBP / SLG), combining relentless on-base ability with legitimate power. They’ve racked up 179 hits, 46 of them for extra bases, including 32 doubles, 6 triples, and 8 home runs. That production has led to 128 RBIs out of 145 total runs scored. Speed has also been a weapon, with 49 stolen bases keeping pressure on opposing defenses. This lineup is incredibly tough to pitch against from top to bottom—there isn’t a single hole in the order.

This recent run of success has showcased the depth and poise of the roster, with contributions coming from every corner of the lineup and bullpen. The team’s chemistry, resilience, and relentless energy have turned them into one of the most complete and dangerous squads in the league. Across 22 games, the Spinners have outscored opponents by a staggering margin of 145-59.

While the regular season title is a historic milestone, the Spinners know their work is far from over. With postseason play on the horizon and a chance to turn a special season into a championship run, the team remains locked in.

The final two regular season games—a two-game set against Lunenburg—will serve as a playoff tune-up and an early taste of postseason-caliber competition. But no matter what happens next, one thing is clear: the Blackstone Valley Spinners are firing on all cylinders, and they’re not slowing down anytime soon.

The Spinners out-hit Offshore four to three and received a dominant showing from their pitching staff, which combined for 13 strikeouts while allowing just three hits and five walks.

Aidan McEvoy led the Spinners offensively, going 2-for-3 with an RBI single in the bottom of the first. Marshall Quinley added an RBI walk in the opening frame, and James Borsari contributed another in the third to extend the Spinners’ early lead. The team showed patience at the plate, drawing seven walks, with Borsari and Chris Goode each reaching base twice via the free pass.

Starter Kyle Palardy set the tone on the mound, striking out five and allowing just one hit over three scoreless innings. James Borsari followed in relief with a dominant outing of his own, fanning four while surrendering just one hit and one walk. The bullpen followed with more quality work, but a pair of sixth-inning runs gave Offshore just enough to edge ahead.

Despite the tough loss, the Spinners’ pitching and plate discipline were bright spots heading into their rematch with Offshore on Sunday in Woonsocket, RI at 12:30 pm.

Spinners Drop CNEBA Opening Day On The Road Despite Great Performances From Goode, Brazeau, and Secovich

The Blackstone Valley Spinners CNEBA were unable to find their rhythm on Wednesday evening, falling 8-1 in their 2025 regular season opener on the road.

After a scoreless first inning, the Spinners gave up a string of early runs and struggled to recover offensively. Starting pitcher Domenic Brazeau battled through three innings, allowing just two earned runs on four hits while striking out five and walking one.

Left fielder Rylan Secovich sparked the offense with a double, and Chris Goode delivered the Spinners’ lone run with an RBI triple—part of his 2-for-3 performance at the plate. The team also turned a clean double play defensively but couldn’t generate enough momentum to close the gap.

The Spinners will look to bounce back on Thursday, May 29th at Renaud Field in Woonsocket, RI, when they host a non-league matchup against Offshore of the George Donnelly Sunset League (GDSL).
